Easy Jewelry Storage

Saturday was a really fun day out in Crosby!  NOT!!! Cleaned out our master closet - Oh the Horror!! I'm just not brave enough to put the pictures on the blog!!!

But I did want to share an easy way to organize your jewelry.  I realize that I'm lucky because I have wall space in my closet and if you too have wall space, here's an easy way to organize your jewelry using tie racks, dowel rods and hooks.

My Mom gave me this jewelry chest back in the '90's but, I'm an Out of Sight, Out of Mind, kind of gal and really just use it for storage of holiday items, small earrings and lots of junk.

I used 2 tie racks from Lowes as my main Necklace storage.

Bracelets are stored on a small dowel rod suspended on 2 large hooks.

Earrings and delicate necklaces are hung on small white cup hooks.

More cup hooks for bracelets and watches.

Very easy and very inexpensive and it works great for someone like me that forgets what she has! My husband would say I've got too much, if I can't remember.

Silly boy! A girl can never have too much jewelry!!!! Hope your week is off to a great start!

Cucumber Tomato Salad - Easy Green Salad Alternative

One of my New Year's resolutions is to eat healthier and lose weight - Isn't that one of every woman in America's resolutions?

That being said, I've had a green salad with almost every meal in the month of January and I'm just about SICK of them!  I've been trying to mix it up the last 2 weeks and have been making this veggie salad that we have been eating for years.  It's a great alternative to a plain green salad.

green salad alternative

Ingredients -

1 large peeled cucumber chopped
1 cup tomatoes chopped (I used grape tomatoes)
2 stalks celery chopped
1 cup onions chopped (I used red, but green or white works fine too)
2-3 tblsps Italian dressing
Salt & Pepper to taste
Optional - 2 tblsps crumbled Gorgonzola cheese

Chop all ingredients, add Italian dressing, stir to coat all vegetables.  Add Gorgonzola, if desired and salt and pepper to taste.  Let sit for 30 minutes prior to serving.

That's all there is to it!  Makes a nice change from a plain green salad and has a nice crunch to it.  It keeps well in the fridge and tastes better the longer it marinates.

Let us know how you like it!

Lunch Break at Hobby Lobby

Monday is just my favorite day of the week - NOT!! And Leigh, knowing this, took advantage of me and twisted my arm to go out to lunch today. Let's see - Atkins frozen dinner or Qdoba and she's going to pay?  Sign me up!!!

After lunch I suggested a quick trip to Hobby Lobby and these are a few of the great things we saw....

Look closely at this one and you can see my reflection in it!  Just love the sentiment.

Leigh bought this one for her new place and I'm heading
over after work tomorrow to help her hang it.

Shopping at Hobby Lobby made Monday a little better!  Here's to a great week!

Valentine Wreath

After seeing all the great yarn wrapped wreaths on Pinterest, Leigh and I decided we needed to make one for the Valentine's Mantel. I wanted a ruffle behind it and thought that coffee filters might work.  What do you think?

Valentine's Day, Wreaths, Hearts, Coffee Filters

This was a super quick and easy wreath that you could make in an hour.

Here's how to make it.

1.  Wrap a styrofoam with yarn.

2.  Fold a coffee filter in half and then in half again. Like this -

3.  Place a dot of hot glue inside the fold down at the tip.

4.  Fold the tip up and place a dot of hot glue inside to hold it down. Like this -

5.  Then glue the coffee filters to the back of the wreath all the way around.  I used about 20 filters.

6.  For the rosettes, just grasp the middle of an open coffee filter and twist it into the desired shape.

7.  Add your heart accents and glue on to the wreath.  The large hearts are picks from the Dollar Tree and the small ones are from a package of table scatter.

Ta Da! You're done!

I made the wreath to go on my mantel but it is extremely difficult to take a good picture in our family room due to the glare on the large framed piece from the transom windows! But here it is -

I just love how quick and easy this was to make, plus it is just so darn cute!

Hope you are having a great weekend!

Valentine's Day Pinterest Picks

We thought we would share some of our favorite Valentine's Day Pinterest picks from our shared pin board.  Valentine's Day is such a fun holiday and such a relaxing one after the chaos of Christmas!

Leigh picked this cute little card for me because she knows that I love Owls!

This is one of my favorite scriptures, I Corinthians 13:4 and I love how
Diana at Project Inspire turned it into subway art.

Check out this adorable button heart from Southern Lovely.
It is one of Leigh's picks and has a great step by step tutorial.

Leigh and I both love Lil' Luna and picked the following 3 pins from there -

Leigh loves the Beetles so of course she had to choose

How about you? Do you have a Valentine's Day favorite Pin or craft project?  We would love for you to share them with us on our Facebook Page.

Wishing you all a fantastic weekend full of crafty fun!
