Sweet & Simple Valentine Garland

Now that Christmas is officially over, it's time to think about VALENTINES DAY!!!

Valentines Day, Garland, Hearts, Pom Poms

Dollar Tree had Valentine Glitter heart picks and I just knew they would make a great garland for our fireplace.  This was so easy to make and I just love the simplicity - with a little bling!

Valentines Day, Garland, Hearts, Pom Poms
Here's what you need -

1.  Large Needle
2.  Red & White Bakers Twine - got mine at the Target Dollar Spot today - SCORE!!!
3.  1 Package of red picks from Dollar Tree
4.  1 Package of pink picks from Dollar Tree
5.  13 small white Pom Poms - I had a large package from Michaels that I used.

Measure your mantel or shelf and add 12 inches for the drop on each side and an additional 12 inches to allow room for your knots.

I found it easiest to hold the bakers twine up on the mantel to get the correct amount of drape in the middle.

Space out the hearts and pompoms every 3 inches and tie knots on both sides of each one to hold them in place.

I did use some red glitter glue to touch up the bottoms of the red hearts where I removed the bamboo pick.

The trickiest part is making sure to insert the needle straight through the hearts  - like so -

I'll let you in on one of my favorite decorating tools - Clear Command Adhesive Hooks - they have even made the adhesive strip clear so that the whole thing pretty much disappears.  They don't show and they don't leave nail holes on my mantel.

We have lots more Valentine crafts planned, so check back again next week to see what we have up our sleeves.

  5. I've been looking for some little hearts so I'm glad I found your cute garland. Need to get to Dollar Tree today! Thanks. I was at Wal-Mart and they said their V-Day decorations won't be out for another couple of weeks. Crazy. :-)
