My Family

I just thought I'd share my little family with y'all. These are Kahn (the orange fluffball) and Audrey (the tabby).

Kahn and Audrey 2011
I moved into my first off campus apartment in the summer of 2010 and was feeling lonely. We always had animals growing up in the house, but my family lives in Texas and I needed companionship. I was looking at adopting one cat, but when looking online at animal shelters, I found these two little guys and they were in my heart from there on. I went to meet them and brought them home that day. Audrey cried the entire way home. She hates being in the carrier and Kahn was as cool as a cucumber. They got along right away which was a major concern I had.

Oh, and did I mention that when I got them, I thought Kahn was a boy? I mean, with all that fluff who could have known what sex she was! They told me she was a boy when I got her and for 10 long months I thought it was true. I was feeling nostalgic one day and was looking through all of their adoption paperwork when, alas, I stumbled upon something strange. There were 3 adoption postings among the paperwork....two said she was a girl and one said she was a boy. Flabbergasted, I took a peek and sure enough, she was a girl!

I posted on Facebook what happened and asked for suggestions for a new name that started with a K....but then my Dad said something funny. He loves King of the Hill and he told me that Hank's Korean neighbor has a daughter named Kahn. It's a family name and the Dad  wanted a boy said he didn't care if his child turned out to be a girl, she had to keep the family name, Kahn! It fit my sweet girl, so I decided to keep it.

So, here I am now, with 2 female kitties. I've had them for a year and a half and they are the loves of my life!

  1. My Grandkitties! Aren't they cute? If I could only figure out how to make them wear a cute little pink dress!
